1. Who we are
Push Patterns is run by Craig Lowe, a sole trader trading as Push Patterns, of 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Craig Lowe trading as Push Patterns.
We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under registration number ZC227616.
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, email us at [email protected] or write to the address above.
2. What this policy covers
This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit pushpatterns.com, sign up for free resources or The Weekly Push newsletter, buy a course, join the Push Patterns community, or interact with us on YouTube. It explains why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it.
Our website and courses are hosted on Kajabi. Kajabi processes data on our behalf and under our instructions. We remain responsible for your data.
This policy does not cover third party websites we link to, including YouTube, Amazon, Thomann and other retailers. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
3. The data we collect
We collect and use the following types of personal data.
Identity and contact data. Your name and email address. If you buy a course, your billing address and country.
Transaction data. What you bought, when, the price paid, the payment method used, and the status of any payment plan. We do not see or store your full card number. Card details are handled by our payment processors (see section 7).
Student data. Your course progress, lessons completed, assessment results and any work you submit inside a course.
Community data. If you join the Push Patterns community, your profile, posts, comments, track feedback, and any files or links you share. If you attend a live meetup or 1 to 1 session, your name and your audio and video during the call, and any recording we make of it.
Marketing data. Whether you have opted in to or unsubscribed from our emails, which emails you open and which links you click.
Technical and usage data. Your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, time zone, the pages you visit, how long you spend on them, and how you arrived at our site. This is collected through cookies and similar tools (see section 6).
Correspondence. Anything you send us by email, through a form, or in a direct message, including refund requests and support questions.
We do not knowingly collect any special category data (such as health, religious or political information) and ask that you do not send us any.
4. How we collect it
You give us data directly when you fill in an opt in form for a free resource or the newsletter, buy a course, create an account, post in the community, or contact us.
We collect data automatically when you use our website or courses, through cookies, the Meta (Facebook) pixel, Google Analytics and Kajabi's own analytics.
We receive data from third parties when you pay through Stripe, PayPal or Klarna (confirmation of payment, not your card details), and when you interact with us on YouTube (your public channel name and comments).
5. Why we use your data and the legal basis
UK data protection law requires us to have a legal basis for each use of your personal data. These are the uses and the bases we rely on.
To register you as a student, give you access to your course and the community, and run your account. Legal basis: performance of a contract with you.
To take payment, manage payment plans, prevent fraud and keep financial records. Legal basis: performance of a contract, and legal obligation (we keep financial records to meet our tax and accounting obligations).
To send you the free resource or newsletter you asked for. Legal basis: your consent, which you give when you sign up. You can withdraw it at any time by clicking unsubscribe.
To send you marketing emails about our courses, workshops and related content. If you signed up for a free resource or the newsletter, we rely on your consent. If you have bought from us, our lawful basis under UK GDPR is our legitimate interest in telling our customers about our own similar products, and we send those emails under the “soft opt in” in UK e-privacy rules: we obtained your details in the course of a sale, we only email you about our own similar products and services, and you were given the chance to opt out when we collected your email address at checkout. Either way, every email has an unsubscribe link and we stop as soon as you use it.
To send you service emails about your purchase, such as receipts, payment reminders, access details and changes to our terms. Legal basis: performance of a contract. These are not marketing emails and you will receive them while you are a customer.
To answer your questions and handle refunds and complaints. Legal basis: performance of a contract, and our legitimate interest in running the business well.
To understand how people use our website and courses, and to improve them. Legal basis: your consent for non essential cookies and analytics, and our legitimate interest in improving our content.
To measure and target advertising, mainly on Meta platforms. Legal basis: your consent, given through the cookie banner.
To run the community safely, including moderation under the Community Guidelines. Legal basis: performance of a contract, and our legitimate interest in keeping the space safe for members.
To record some live community sessions and masterclasses and share the recordings with members who could not attend. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in making community content available to all members. We tell you at the start of any session that is being recorded, and you can keep your camera and microphone off if you prefer not to appear. 1 to 1 sessions are only recorded if you agree.
To comply with legal obligations and protect our legal rights. Legal basis: legal obligation and legitimate interest.
6. Cookies and tracking
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. Some are essential for the site to work, such as keeping you logged in and remembering your cart. Others are not essential and are only set if you accept them through the cookie banner.
The non essential tools we use are:
- Google Analytics, to understand traffic and page performance. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
- The Meta (Facebook) pixel, to measure our advertising and show relevant ads to people who have visited our site. Meta's privacy policy: facebook.com/privacy/policy.
- Kajabi analytics, to measure email and page performance.
- YouTube embeds, which may set cookies when you play an embedded video.
You can accept or reject non essential cookies through our cookie banner when you first visit, and you can change your choices at any time through the cookie settings on our site. Rejecting them will not stop the site working. Non essential cookies are not set until you accept them.
7. Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it with the providers below. Some act as our processors, handling data only on our instructions under contracts that require them to protect it, such as Kajabi. Others are independent controllers who process the data you give them under their own privacy policies, such as PayPal, Klarna, and Google, Meta and Zoom for some of their services.
- Kajabi, which hosts our website, courses, community, email list and checkout.
- Payment processors. Stripe and PayPal handle card and PayPal payments. Klarna handles Klarna payment plans. When you pay through PayPal or Klarna, those companies are independent controllers of the data you give them and their own privacy policies apply.
- Google, for Google Analytics, and for business email and file storage.
- Meta, for the Meta pixel and advertising.
- YouTube (owned by Google), where we host our free videos and run a community tab.
- Zoom, which we use for live community meetups, masterclasses and 1 to 1 sessions. If you join a call, Zoom processes your name, email and audio and video. Some sessions may be recorded for members who could not attend. We will tell you at the start of any session that is being recorded.
- Professional advisers, such as our accountant, where needed to run the business.
- Law enforcement, regulators or courts, where we are legally required to.
If Push Patterns is ever sold or transferred to another business, your data may be transferred as part of that. We will tell you if that happens.
8. International transfers
Some of our providers, including Kajabi, Google, Meta, Zoom and Stripe, are based in or store data in the United States. When your data leaves the UK, we make sure a legally recognised safeguard is in place. Depending on the provider, this is the UK's adequacy regulations (including the UK Extension to the Data Privacy Framework for certified US providers), or standard contractual clauses with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, as set out in each provider's data processing terms.
9. How long we keep your data
Free subscribers. We keep your data while you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe and have never bought from us, we delete your subscriber record within 30 days. We may keep the minimum information needed on a suppression list so that your opt out continues to be respected if your email address ever reaches us again.
Customers. We keep your account and course data while your account is active. Purchase and payment records are kept for 6 years after the transaction to meet our tax, accounting and legal record keeping obligations, even if you close your account or ask us to delete other data.
Community content. Your posts and comments stay in the community while you are a member. If you leave or are removed, we may keep your posts where deleting them would break other members' conversations, but we will remove your name on request.
Correspondence. We keep correspondence about purchases, refunds, complaints and anything that could become a dispute for 6 years. Routine support questions are deleted within 2 years.
Analytics and advertising data is kept according to the retention settings of Google and Meta, which we keep as short as their tools allow.
10. How we keep your data safe
Your data is stored with reputable providers, mainly Kajabi and Google, who apply appropriate technical and organisational security measures. Access to your data on our side is limited to Craig Lowe and any assistant who needs it to do their job. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data. If a personal data breach occurs, we will assess the risk and notify the ICO and affected individuals where the law requires.
11. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct it if it is wrong or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete it, where we no longer need it or you withdraw consent (subject to the records we must keep by law).
- Restrict how we use it, in certain circumstances.
- Object to our use of it, including for direct marketing, which we will always stop on request.
- Receive a copy of the data you gave us in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of anything done before you withdrew it.
To use any of these rights, email us at the address in section 1. We will reply within 1 month. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. There is no fee unless a request is clearly unfounded or excessive.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to sort it out first, so please contact us before you go to the ICO.
If you are in the EU or EEA, you have equivalent rights under the GDPR and can complain to your local supervisory authority. If you are anywhere else, contact us and we will handle your request in line with this policy.
12. Children
Our website and courses are not aimed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you are under 18, please do not buy a course without a parent or guardian's permission. If you think we have collected data from a child, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top tells you when it was last changed. If we make a significant change, we will email customers and subscribers or post a notice on the site.
